I packed up my Xbox 360, so I’ll have some entertainment during my current spot of traveling. Jake from 8BitJoystick commented on the above Flickr pic that he’d never check his 360, then I pointed out that it was in my carry on and he called it hardcore. Rock.
I made it through security without any sort of “Sir, can we see what this large thing in your bag is?”, so my guess is that they get people traveling with their gaming systems a lot.
Also, this reminds me of how totally ass backwards our security measures in this country are in a post 9-11 world. When I was on the plane, the passengers in front of me asked the flight attendant if she had any wings for their kid, and she said that they no longer allow the pins, they only have sticky ones, because the pins could be used as a weapon. ! Meanwhile, how many people are wearing glasses and sunglasses on planes? Break the lens and cut someone! Take the little rubber ear guard off of metal-framed glasses and stab someone in the jugular with it. If you’ve ever watched Oz on HBO, you know that there are a lot of commonplace things that can be used to kill. I really wish we weren’t so scared and paranoid and false security America, these days.
Anyway, enough of that mini-rant. Back to the Xbox 360. Awesome to have it on a trip. I plug in my Elgato Hybrid EyeTV into my MacBook and use the MacBook as my gaming monitor. I played Crackdown last night before bed. It’s like Grand Theft Auto, except you’re a mega-cop who is semi superhero. It’s like GTA on crack. It’s awesome fun shoot ‘em up, crash cars, and jump up the sides of buildings, leaving little craters in the ground when you land, like the friggin’ Hulk.
