Doc Searls Weblog · Same old blog, brand new place

I’m a longtime fan of Doc Searls’ blogging (I had the pleasure of meeting him last year at an Unconference), and I was surprised to see that he moved his blog: Doc Searls Weblog · Same old blog, brand new place. However, I’m overjoyed that he did, b/c now his feed comes through in pieces [...]

Blogging for an iPhoneNevermind

Back before I was blogging for TUAW, I was a contributor to Hadley Stern’s iPod & iTunes Hacks. After working on that book with Hadley, he was kind enough to let me write articles for Apple Matters for a little bit of cash. Jason, Judith, and Barb spotted some of my writing over at Apple [...]

I, also, want Verizon Fios…

I spotted Jason’s post where he is begging Joseph Ambeault and Joe Savage for Verizon Fios and I thought Yeah, I want Fios, too, but then I thought of a different approach:
Dear Verizon Marketing Department:
Hook me up with free Verizon Fios in Chester Heights 10708 (and wherever I may move to in the future), and [...]

Blog Jovi

I saw over on Brian’s blog that there is a new Blogsmith site that aggregates all the sites running on Blogsmith. Coolness, I thought, I can subscribe to the feed to that site and get all the Weblogs, Inc. blogs in one big river of info!!! Alas, all that feed has is this Blog Jovi [...]

Ugh…

All the trees are pollinating the air I breathe, and I feel about half the energy I normally have. It’s as if my consciousness is burried beneath 3 feet of cotton. In other news, I’m posting this lamentation from my Helio Ocean. Not enough energy to get to a computer. I need coffee…

Please, Amazon…

…, I beg of you: Don’t destroy Digital Photography Review. You’ve bought them. Now give them money when they need it and leave them alone, so they can continue to do the great things they’ve been doing.

I think it would be amazing…

…if everyone with a blog on Mother’s Day, in protest of the Hallmark holiday, would post this video:

I, of course, would never do such a thing, because I love my mother dearly.

ps—Wow. Sacrificing chickens in videos in 1988! Danzig, you so crazy!
Update: Alternate option:

How to linkbait me

So Jason wrote these rules on linkbating him, and the only blogger on the list of those who went for it who actually has a nice-sized following (I think) was Dave Winer, who wrote: How to linkbait me (Scripting News). At the end of the list, Jason asks where are all the linkbaits from Scoble, [...]

Judith Meskill is leaving Weblogs, Inc and AOL

Wow. Brian and Ryan just blogged about Judith’s big announcement that she’s leaving Weblogs, Inc. / AOL. Judith is an amazing person whom I’ve known since early 2005 when she helped recruit me to write for TUAW. She was a great mentor as I learned the ways of working and managing a [...]

Nikon is sending me a D80 to play with for 6 months

Pretty cool. I just got a FedEx package with a little “Picture this…” welcome package from Nikon, inviting me to participate in a program where they send me a Nikon D80 to play with for 6 months. Here’s the details:

YES! You made it!
Nikon’s “Picture This” program is designed to give you, the blogger, the ability [...]

doodlin’

Found this blog after looking at other people’s sketches on Flickr. doodlin’: LittleMonsters_Red3Eyes is a pretty cool doodle fish with 3 eyes. Check it out. Any hardcore sketchers out there who can recommend other good sketch blogs? I want to hear more about what tools everyone is using to doodle digitally.

Behold! I am a Master of Philosophy!

Actually, I’m now a double-master: A Master of Arts and a Master of Philosophy. That is to say, that I gave up on the Dissertation, the dream of becoming Dr. Sample, Ph.D., and settled for two Masters degrees. Someday, I may turn my eye to that elusive Masters of Science to get a triple Masters, [...]

So that’s why Saft kept warning me of a possible frame attack on my site…

Sorry to everyone for the Apple Symbol in one of my previous blog posts. Evidently it was breaking my RSS feed in FF and causing all kinds of nasty problems.

We can do something about trolls…

Dave Winer has a great post up about the Kathy Sierra debacle that everyone and their mother (including myself) have been talking about at the blogosphere’s watercooler.
Dave says that we cannot really do anything about trolls, and while I like everything he’s saying in his post, I have to disagree. The way to deal with [...]

Fixing the blogosphere

Scoble posts about what’s happening to Kathy Sierra:
We have to fix this culture. For the next week, let’s discuss how.
My thoughts (aside from going the police route, which Kathy is already doing):
1. Stop tolerating these people.
2. Don’t link to them. Ever. Remove old links if possible.
3. Encourage bloggers to take responsibility not only for their [...]

This is amazing!

It’s 50 some odd minutes long. If you don’t have the time to watch the entire thing fast forward and make sure you watch the final 5 minutes.
Note: In case you didn’t know, I am of the opinion that PayPerPost is the devil. It is one of the many horrible things on the Internet [...]
