Kara DioGuardi beat me out to be American Idol’s 4th judge

A lot of people have been asking what I’m doing next. Well, I was thinking about being American Idol’s 4th judge, but Kara DioGuardi (*) beat me to it. It’s all good though. I’ve got other things planned…

Big Brother After Dark

I’ve been a Big Brother fan since season 2; I even blogged about it for TV Squad for a while. It’s by far the best reality TV show out there, because it gets rid of all the “hey we’re trying to survive even though there’s a camera crew waiting to help us at any moment” [...]

Mahalo Daily visits The Simpson’s Ride at Universal Studios

Check it out, today’s Mahalo Daily features The Simpson’s Ride at Universal Studios:

It looks like they got a better tour than Kristin and I did when we covered the premiere for TV Squad.

Simpson’s Ride Premiere May 17, 2008

I went with Kristin yesterday to serve as her photographer for covering the premiere of The Simpson’s Ride at Universal Studios. She wrote a post for TV Squad here that tells you all about it and has several of my photos credited to me. The bad news: they didn’t let us ride the ride. Evidently, [...]

Best Fictional Brands

Following up on the fun that was our Best Evil Robots (*) page, the Mahalo team has built a new page: Best Fictional Brands (*). I contributed the Lost brands section:

Now things get very bizarre in the current season of Lost, when we discover that the arch-rival company of the Hanso Foundation, Widmore Corporation has [...]

Hulu: American Gladiators Night 2

Did you miss night 2 of American Gladiators? Me too. Here you go:

I have to say, Hulu (*) is pretty awesome. Full videos, ad-supported in the video itself so they don’t care if you embed it in your blog like I just did. Now the real question is: does their embed code break validation?
UPDATE: [...]

Shoutcast TV via VLC on Ubuntu

Just got Shoutcast TV working on VLC on Ubuntu. It’s sort of cludgy where they have it hidden. First I searched for how to do it with no luck and found this Ubuntu forums thread where others were also confused and didn’t find out how it works. So, I figured it out and then joined [...]

Eye of Judgement aka Real life Yu-Gi-Oh!

See Eye of Judgement (*) to understand what the heck this post is about.
So Eliot brought Eye of Judgement (*) for the PS3 over last night. It was kind of like being inside an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh, as you’re playing, essentially, a card game, brought to operatic levels of absurdity by video game goodness. All [...]

Futurama

Seeing The Simpsons Movie (*) got me all jazzed up over the upcoming Futurama direct to DVD movies and the upcoming Futurama Returns on Comedy Central. Fortunately, Evan is a *huge* Futurama fan too and was kind enough to bust out both Futurama (*) and Futurama Returns (*) today.
Before the movie started, I turned to [...]

Dear CBS.com

I’ve been traveling for the past several weeks and have absolutely loved the ability to watch Big Brother 8 episodes (it’s my favorite show) for free on your website. It’s been better than purchasing the shows on iTunes (which is what I did last year).
Unfortunately, I missed last night’s episode and there appears to be [...]

Looks like I’m getting an Apple TV

My friend Trevor has been talking about maybe possibly taking my old Mac mini off my hands for a while now. I’ve been debating hacking it into a big media center. Fortunately, a path of least resistance has appeared: Trevor’s going to take my Mac mini and buy me a brand spanking new Apple TV [...]

Mac OS X running on Apple TV

Okay. Now I may actually buy one of these… Either that or I’m going to hack my Mac mini to be one, although I think that’s slightly illegal…
Never mind. Hey, Trevor, are you still interested in my Mac mini? If you buy me an Apple TV, I’ll do a straight swap.

This is crazy…

Very cool video of a “speed-painting” of John Locke from Lost. I wonder how fast this was actually done and how much it was sped up.

First Joost Crash

I have no idea what caused it. It was just chugging along playing show after show like it had been doing all day in a little window in the bottom right corner of my screen and suddenly, *poof*:

Still liking it. This is the first sign I’ve seen of it being Beta.

Holy crap, Joost is COOL.

I just got a beta invite to Joost and installed it on my MacBook. Holy crap is it slick. You can watch TV shows on demand either full screen or in a little windowed mode. It’s decent quality and so far (knock on wood) there’s been no lag. I’m currently watching a documentary on Galapagos [...]
