Kindle pre-release update not quite page-riffic

So I downloaded the 3.1 Kindle update early (it’s how I roll), excited to finally have actual page numbers show up on the various books I am reading. Unfortunately, after applying the update to my 3rd Generation WiFi Kindle, I’m not seeing any page numbers or locations, unless I have a menu open. Very less than ideal experience.

Anyone else seeing this? Note: it may have to do with me applying the screensaver hack back when I first got the device.

UPDATE: I restored and it’s still doing it, so it wasn’t the hack. Boo.

SECOND UPDATE: According to Scott, this is the way it’s supposed to perform. That’s just plain stupid.
