My take on AOL’s new logo — UPDATE

Wow. I mean, I thought the switch from Netscape to Propeller was a horrible mistake, but had hopes that with Armstrong coming in to steer the ship that things might turn around for AOL. But, yikes. Why would you destroy such strong branding with this horrible, horrible switch of logos? Just like the move of switching Netscape to Propeller and making Netscape nothing more than a skinned alternative portal of AOL’s homepage, this move by AOLAol. throws all the rich history of the company that is contained within that iconic logo and its variations over the years out the window. It’s a desperate out-of-focus branding attempt.

Aol. is doomed.

Wow, yeah, that’s pretty not great.

Also, low though it may be, I can’t help but notice that “Aol” sounds a lot like “A-hole.”
