Facebook should know that it doesn't have to compete with Twitter at all if it opens the site so photos, videos and links could be shared as links through Twitter. Twitter would be brought to its knees in comparison, and it would cost absolutely nothing to FB to do this (ie no buy-out). I agree 100% that this was to buy-out ex-Google employees. The only warranted iTunes social aspect I could think of is if you have status updates on the tracks you're listening to with links to the iTunes store (obviously not status updates on what you're listening to because that's been done for over a decade), but even this idea I think would be an absolute disaster as the iTunes store is one of the slowest, most awkward portals ever. Have you ever just browsed the iTunes store? Of course, this is also stuff you already know. I just thought of writing because I was using Google Reader and thought of how awkward that is as a social network. We're of like minds. Let's make a baby. Oh wait.. I agree.
