Read this blog on your Kindle

in Amazon Kindle 2, Blogging, Screaming Tongue, comics

If you have a Kindle, you can now subscribe to this blog via the Kindle for $1.99 a month. Even if you don’t want to pay to read this blog (understandable), there is a free 14-day trial available. I also have published Screaming Tongue, so that it is available for the Kindle. If I actually have subscribers, I’ll actually be motivated to post updates to that webcomic, and I can start making the actual pictures look better on the Kindle screen. Here’s a shot of what it looks like zoomed to fit the Kindle 2’s screen.

This is kind of cool, but ideally, as the independent publisher of this blog, I’d be interested in a way to offer this freely, outside of Amazon’s walled garden. There’s something problematic about me having to pay to subscribe to my own blog on the Kindle to accurately test the layout should it by some freak accident take off. The first company to design an ebook reader with WiFi that can subscribe to basic RSS feeds right on the device and adopt an open publishing format will have a good shot of knee-capping Amazon, I think.

Below are some screenshots of what both sites look like on the Kindle and direct links to each on Amazon.
