How to activate Windows 7 Beta with a valid activation key

So, yesterday, I downloaded Windows 7 Beta 64-bit to try out on my HP Pavilion tx2500z tablet PC, I installed it, and I wrote up a first impressions piece over at Obsessable. In short: much more responsive than Vista, but still a beta, so you might want to avoid installing as your main installation (I installed on another partition so that I can dual-boot Vista and Windows 7). Then less than an hour after that post was up, I spotted news of valid Windows 7 Beta activation keys being available via a little bit of URL hackery directly from Microsoft. I grabbed a key and successfully activated my copy of Windows 7 Beta. Next step is to try to install it via Boot Camp on my MacBook.
