So I cannot help but think of nasty chatroom sex talk “Want to cyber?” every time I hear the term Cyber Monday. Leave it to marketers to come up with a day to push online sales after Black Friday and give it a dirty online name like “Cyber Monday.” Or is it just me? I suspect so, since Brian, who usually picks up on every reference under the sun, missed it entirely in his Cyber Monday / Black Monday post.
In any case, there’s a lot of people talking about Cyber Monday deals today, so if you didn’t get all your shopping done on Black Friday, be on the lookout. Also, don’t forget to check out Obsessable’s Holiday Gift Guide for 2008.
It must be a big deal, as Mahalo has a whole tab devoted to it on their homepage today. Their Cyber Monday page, however, makes no mention of cyber slang. Wikipedia has an entire page devoted to cybersex, but no mention of any connection between it and Cyber Monday.
I love the term ‘Cyber’. I’m still stuck in the cyberpunk genre. I’m waiting for more total immersion computer entities. Bring on cybernetic organisms. Skynet FTW.
