Xbox 360 NXE update

If you own an Xbox 360 and you haven’t installed the brand new NXE update yet, get to it! It’s great. Also, we’re running a short quick contest over at Obsessable in celebration of the launch and we’re giving away an Xbox Live Vision Camera (see the bottom of the post). The contest ends tomorrow at 10am and we announce the winner at noon, so hurry up and enter.

Randall wrote up a good first impressions overview of the all that the New Xbox Experience has to offer. I’m loving the streaming Netflix integration myself, and now feel as if I need to get a larger hard drive for my 360 so I can start saving games to the hard drive. Awesome feature!

Mine updated automatically last night. At first I thought it was an attempt to copy the Wii with the avatar. But there are some useful improvements.

also, I was hoping for automatic download of codecs. But I guess that just can’t happen.

The new Xbox interface rocks! It is much faster to get to games and content. The new avatar implementation is substantially better than Wii. Plus the ability to link to your avatar on the Web is a nice touch (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/avatars/).

Yeah, the New Xbox Experience really does make Xbox 360/Xbox Live a whole lot better. I think one of the best features is indeed the Netflix integration. Some really great TV shows are there, like Heroes and 30 Rock, among others. All they really need to do now is up their library of movies and add more HD content.

The other really great feature I’m liking a whole lot is the option to play games from the H/D after a painless download of the disk. Best part, no more disk errors, but they can take up a lot of space.. but that’s obviously why getting a 120 GB H/D is a smart move.

All in all, the NXE is a great experience and it brings many great and new things to the already awesome Xbox 360.
