A friend asked me what it was like living in Santa Monica…

…via email today, and I wrote a rather longish reply with this one comment on the homeless that I particularly loved and wanted to share with the world:

The homeless problem here is considered a lifestyle and sometimes you think that the zombie apocalypse has already started, but instead of eating your brains they’re just huddled around stealing your trash and crowding your sidewalks.

Oh yeah. I saw a homeless guy with a Blackberry last Saturday, too, texting someone. Totally ridiculous.

My first trip to SF I saw a homeless dude charging his phone via an outlet on the front of a restaurant that wasn’t open. Free power!
