Xbox 360 Carry on…

I packed up my Xbox 360, so I’ll have some entertainment during my current spot of traveling. Jake from 8BitJoystick commented on the above Flickr pic that he’d never check his 360, then I pointed out that it was in my carry on and he called it hardcore. Rock.
I made it through security without any sort of “Sir, can we see what this large thing in your bag is?”, so my guess is that they get people traveling with their gaming systems a lot.
Also, this reminds me of how totally ass backwards our security measures in this country are in a post 9-11 world. When I was on the plane, the passengers in front of me asked the flight attendant if she had any wings for their kid, and she said that they no longer allow the pins, they only have sticky ones, because the pins could be used as a weapon. ! Meanwhile, how many people are wearing glasses and sunglasses on planes? Break the lens and cut someone! Take the little rubber ear guard off of metal-framed glasses and stab someone in the jugular with it. If you’ve ever watched Oz on HBO, you know that there are a lot of commonplace things that can be used to kill. I really wish we weren’t so scared and paranoid and false security America, these days.
Anyway, enough of that mini-rant. Back to the Xbox 360. Awesome to have it on a trip. I plug in my Elgato Hybrid EyeTV into my MacBook and use the MacBook as my gaming monitor. I played Crackdown last night before bed. It’s like Grand Theft Auto, except you’re a mega-cop who is semi superhero. It’s like GTA on crack. It’s awesome fun shoot ‘em up, crash cars, and jump up the sides of buildings, leaving little craters in the ground when you land, like the friggin’ Hulk.

I was asked about my 360 when I carried on, but that was right after launch I don’t think they had seen many yet.
We’ve only got one boss left on Crackdown, but we’ve become bored and just started throwing cars into piles and blowing them up.

I was thinking about bringing my 360 over for a trip to the U.S. I’ve got coming up…
Then my power supply broke (the big brick thing) and I realised I’d probably have to bring over a massive power transformer too.
Talking of Airline restrictions, is that stupid ass liquid ban still in place? I was within 5 seconds from missing my connecting flight at Chicago for CES because I had a freakin’ bottle of cologne in my second bag, which happened to be outside of those stupid plastic bags.
The stupidest part is that the liquid ban has spread to short flights like London -> Dublin (45 minutes!) rather than being limited to 12 hour long international flights…

Conrad: you can simply buy a U.S. power supply for about $75 when you’re here. ;-)

Well also I guess an Xbox 360 look a lot like a computer on an xray.
Actually finding a TV that can take the HDTV signal would be hard to do on a trip and playing Xbox 360 via standard def TV is just painful on the eyes. I would just rather play my DS or PSP (Didn’t you write a book about that?).
