Puggy
Kristin took Thatcher to the vet this morning, because we noticed that she’s been avoiding putting weight on her back left leg (and sort of bunny-hopping when she runs). The vet felt around and thought that she might have a torn ACL in her left knee. They took an x-ray. The vet put an x-ray of Thatcher’s hip next to a normal dog’s hips, and said “your dog has the most malformed hips I’ve ever seen on a dog” or something to that effect. Chances are that she hurt her malformed hips while jumping off our bed (which is the most dramatic leap I’ve ever seen her take) and since then she’s been avoiding putting weight on her left leg b/c it hurts her hip. The doctor gave us a puppy version of glucosamine chondroitin with the hopes that will alleviate the swelling and pain so she’ll start putting weight on her left leg again and it will continue to develop normally. If it doesn’t, then there is risk of her suffering muscle atrophy in her left leg, and they’ll have to go in for surgery, which will cost much more than the $349 today’s visit cost me. So, in any case, let’s hope the glucosamine chondroitin works.
