WTF SONY?
wtf.

I charged my Sony Reader last night in preparation for my trip this week, so I could do some reading on the plane, and now it thinks it’s plugged in via USB even when it’s not. I’ve tried using the reset button on the back and nothing. Grrr…

Update: Digging out the AC adapter, which I’ve never used (I normally charge via USB), and doing a hard reset with it plugged in seems to have resurrected the device. w00t!

CK, have you checked the Sony Reader forums of http://www.mobileread.com for help?

I’d love to have one of those. Maybe one day!

Alex, the coolness of the Sony Reader is that it’s like carrying around a library of books all in the size of one single book, and I can buy new books for it off of Sony’s Connect store.

I love it. It’s great if you’re a big reader.

Just packed for a trip and the reader was dead, I tried to reset and use the USB charger but they didn’t work.

I saw this page and it saved my sanity

thanks

Ive had one for about 2 months now, and basically, It sounds better than it is.
Theres more than one problem here which is more than a minor niggle.Lets see:
Major flaws:
1. Too sluggish. You actually have to learn to remember to make a mental note that you have pressed a button otherwise you will not be sure that the keypress registered as it takes so long to respond in some situations.Sony quote 1 second delay, but I would say up to 10-15 or so.Maybe you didnt fully press the button, so you try again and BANG! You now have the new screen and now have to go into the next screen by mistake because you pressed the key twice, etc…Aargh!
2. Display still too small.(i.e. 70% of all your ebooks will not be readable, even with zoom and portrait half page sizes).
3. Very poor zoom (for the above problem). I had a better zoom on my Motorola A1000 phone! You cant zoom how you like, but hace a quirky fixed zoom which is poor and doesnt really work well at all.)
4. The display isnt really like paper. If you imagine a mix between paper and those old 1980’s LCD games which had black characters on a grey background, added with a really stupid reflective coat which just glares the available light in the spot that you want to read, then you are about there.
That, and the naff interface and too many buttons..
Oh and mines gone dead now so Ive had it as I live in the UK.(No warranty).
Im hoping it just needs a recharge like you say!
