I’m thinking about getting a bike stand…
…like this one from Saris Cycling Group, so that I can ride my bike indoors when it’s too cold outside to ride it for real. This one is the one that Mike Wesner, one of the developers from Netscape, has, and he swears by it. I may go for a cheaper, noisier version though. $329 seems a bit much.
Now, I just have to talk Kristin into allowing it in my office…

I would say get one. I just got one and I love it, I just got this one, http://www.bowlcorp.com/2007/01/24/trainer/ and its been awesome. It was about 325 after tax, and I also got a 10 dollar climbing block that sorta locks the front wheel in place. I love my Cannondale so much and this makes riding it here in the cold great. I was looking at the cheaper ones, but my big butt….400lbs….i wanted something very sturdy. This blackburn seemed the beefiest one out there. And its very quiet, I watch stuff on my modded Xbox while putting in 10 miles a night. So I say get one

One thing that I discovered was that the noise is proportional to the knobbyness of your tires, when I first started using a trainer it was unbearably loud, so I went to the local bike shop and had them put on slickest tires they could. I’ll also add that the slick tire is usable for riding around DC as well, so you don’t have to constantly change back and forth.
