First BlackJack freakout…

…happened yesterday, while Kristin and I were delayed in Memphis. I changed the battery in my phone, then started it back up, and tried to change the profile from Normal to Meeting. It kept snapping back to Normal. So I restarted the phone again. On boot, the phone froze on the Cingular screen. It was entirely non functional. I removed the battery. Removed the SIM card. Put it all back together. Started it up again to the same effect. Tried several times repeatedly.

I didn’t get it up and running until we were at my parents house and I had a chance to Google the issue. I found this on the Cingular Customer Forums:

To perform a manual Hard Reset, press the Up

Navigation key and the [Power] key. Caution, if you perform a

manual Hard Reset, the storage and setting is also

initialized.

This fixed everything, but I also lost all my data. Fortunately, it was all backed up on my computer and I’m just having to track down a few installers for some of the programs I’d installed. Hopefully this was a fluke and not something that will occur every two weeks.

I seem to remember someone contacting me yesterday on his Blackjack to rub in the fact that his flight out of NY was on time. Merry Christmas.
