… but, nevertheless, I found the allure of 3G to be too good, so I ended up getting a Samsung BlackJack i607 yesterday as my new smart phone. David Chartier’s two part review helped me in the decision. It looks like the short-comings of my 8125 (it’s bulkiness and tendency to crash due to lack of more memory) have been addressed in this sleek new phone. It’s as if the Razor and the 8125 had a baby. The built in Cingular Express mail didn’t work nicely with Gmail, though, so I ended up signing up for the middle plan through 4SmartPhone, which is actually really cool. I use Gmail to grab all my multiple email accounts, and now I have all that mail pushed to the phone via this exchange server set up for $7 a month. Very nice.
The phone itself feels good. The keyboard isn’t as bad as I’d read about online. I actually am becoming accustomed to it nicely. The jog wheel supposedly isn’t up to Blackberry snuff, but you know what? I have a 3G phone with pushmail that is costing me less than the Blackberry Pearl would have cost me with the Blackberry data plan.
The 3G is NICE too. We went up to the Westchester last night for some Christmas shopping and White Plains is flooded in 3G. Supposedly the city is as well. Bronxville is only EDGE for now, but 3G is supposedly coming soon. I also like the spare battery and external charger for the spare battery. That’s a nice value add. Overall, I’m very pleased. Of course, this is at under 24 hours. We’ll wait to fully review it in a week or so…

I have the Nokia E61 which IMO is better, it doesn’t have a camera which is a bit of a shame but no big deal… It has wifi which more than makes up for it ;-)
I thought about the E62, but then again, it doesn’t do 3G.
CK….I’m seriously disappointed! Support an alternative which also happened to be better, Blackberry. I’ve had BBs for a couple of years now and I love them. Rock solid and not msft. Plus there is good mac (free) Mac integration with http://www.pocketmac.net/products/pmblackberry/index.html
I heart my Q.
But, Hadley…. 3G!!!
