Jason’s legacy at AOL, however, will undoubtedly live on. AOL just bought Blogsmith, Weblogs, Inc and AOL have been cranking out new jointly branded sites like Blogging Stocks, and Netscape just hired a new set of Navigators and is looking to hire some more. Peter is staying, I’m staying, and a whole lot of other dedicated people are staying.
Here’s Brian’s take, which I almost mimicked when writing this post; unfortunately for us all, I decided to go for a more serious tone. *sigh*
I’m always surprised by the way God sticks people in our lives to make our lives better; several years ago, I would have never thought—when Judith and Barb first contacted me about writing for TUAW and Jason called me a week after I started to tell me what a great job I was doing—that those first virtual meetings would be the foundation for an entirely new life for myself here at AOL.
In any case, Jason, I told you much of this on the phone when you first told me you were leaving and in subsequent chat conversations since then, but I thought I should say it publicly too: You’re great. You’re a bulldog to deal with at times, but I’ll always have your back, my friend, and I look forward to watching what you cook up next.
Update: Ryan Block blogs about the news. So does Peter Rojas.
