As an ex-Netscape employee, I am one of those few loyal people that still use Netscape Messenger and Navigator. A bit of a diehard you might say.

Call me stupid, unadventurous … or just plain nostalgic. I just never appreciated the way that MS unfairly bullied innovation into submission – defying Microsoft is the only way I can express my displeasure at what they did.

And to think that AOL bought Netscape, not for the software, but for 12 million workday eyeballs at Netscape online as it was called then, to maximise their pipe useage.

That loyalty is now threadbare.

Netscape’s portal seems to have become a campaign machine for the democratic party rather than a place to find good information.

One day an American told me – you know Bryn, the democrats are for the intelligent Americans and the republicans are for the rednecks. That American is a chronic womaniser – regularly cheating on his wife. Need I say more? Birds of a feather…

As a British citizen I can’t vote to rebel against such stereotyping – as much as I would like to. So I shall do the only thing I can do, and that is vote with my eyeballs. I can’t stand to think you are selling my eyeballs to finance this bs.

Goodbye Netscape.

Awesome, except the Zoom motorized sound was a little distracting on the interview with Mindy.
