This template seems to only play nicely in Firefox…Fixed!

Well, that’s annoying… I spend all this time making this new template on my site look the way I want it to and Jay IMs me earlier to let me know that the columns render stacked on top of one another in Safari. Same thing happens in Opera on the Mac and on Linux. I haven’t tested on other platforms yet. I really like this look though, so it looks like I’m going to have to find some time to debug this template.

As Jay noted:

Jay Savage: heh. damn those W3C standards.
Jay Savage: ;-)
Jay Savage: sounds like bounding boxes

Grr…

Update: Thanks to the helpful eye of Christoph, I’ve fixed the display problems in Safari and Opera. He noticed that the width of my sidebar with the Google Ad was blowing out the overall width of the page, so I increased it from 760 to 800 and suddenly it all works. Now to squash the XHTML validation problems. I’m down to 18 errors from an original set of 43.

Update Again: I’ve whittled all the XHTML errors out of my template. There are only 12 remaining errors, all of which have to do with the embed code for Google Video and YouTube. I just have to figure out how to work around that now…

Final Update: w00t!

Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional
