The Sample The Web Buy My Book Contest

PSP HACKS!

Originally uploaded by C.K. Sample, III.

I’m announcing the first ever, Sample the Web contest.

Here’s the way it works:

1. Buy a copy of PSP Hacks.
2. Take a picture of yourself, in your house, with the book. Post the pic online somewhere and comment on this post with a link to the pic.
3. After this post has received 5,000 successful submissions (no multiple submissions and only one entry per person). I will put all the successful entries in a hat (either by printing them out, cutting them up, and mixing them or via some virtual way that I’ll figure out later) and pick one to be the winner.
4. I will contact the winner via his / her email as submitted in the email field of the comment and post the winner’s info here.
5. If you are the winner, I will send you an autographed copy of the book and give you a PSP rocking version 1.5 of the firmware (although the AC adapter plug in this particular PSP no longer works, due to some experimenting I did).

Only one entry per person. Only one person will win (and only if there are 5,000 valid entries within the next 90 days). Void where prohibited. Yada yada yada….

Great idea to promote your book and clear out old toys! I’m heading to my local bookstore tomorrow to buy a copy.

  2. stephen says:

you really think that 5,000 people are going to buy your book, read your blog, AND post a pic in it? in 90 days? good luck with that.

    best.fake.contest.ever.

way to not give away a psp, but pretend to. we were all psyched out. really. It’s bad enough that you just get more and more bloggy with time, but this is a new low.

  3. c.k. says:

    stephen,

    I’ve always been bloggy. I’m a blogger.

Also, if it does reach 5,000, I will honor it. Fake? Not entirely.

And there have been far better fake contests, if you ask me. For example: both of the last two presidential elections.

  4. stephen says:

So, theoretically, I could buy one copy of the book, run around town snapping 5,000 shots, each with a new person (roaming gnome style) and then submit them to win your old, broken PSP?

  5. c.k. says:

I mean, you *could*, but you’d have to have each person submit with a different email address and a different IP address so that the entries wouldn’t be disqualified per step #3 above.

Also, the PSP isn’t broken. It works fine. You just cannot charge the battery in it. You have to take the battery out and charge in an external charger.
