I do have to say this for the writer in the first article. People do need to be very careful about the things they publish. If it’s going to be in the least bit controversial, it should probably be done anonymously (unless the blogger’s already rich and famous so it doesn’t matter).

I don’t think controversy is the issue. I think one can be controversial and one can do so without jeopardizing employment, as long as it is meaningful controversy. If somebody fires me because I don’t agree with the politics of the Bush regime, I’m not really sure I want to be working for such a closed-minded, non-democracy-minded company / individual.
My beef with the first article is that it is totally hyperbolized and vague. There is no real evidence for the article, as everything is hidden behind pseudonyms (even the author). It’s full of stupid advice that boils down to: “blogs could be bad for your chances of landing a job.”
Well, yes. If you are a moron, spouting moronic things, your possible bosses will see that and not hire you.
If, however, you are intelligent and articulate, your blog is going to be a huge selling point in your hire.
