Don’t Install PSP 1.5.1 Firmware Update

PSP Version 1.51 for US Users has been released; it appears to be identical to the Japanese Version 1.5.1, which means anyone looking to run an emulator or other homebrew setup on the PSP should probably hold off on the update:
One thing to note: The description of this update ""A patch has been added to address a security vulnerability in the system software" it appears this update is intended only to fix an exploit in their system that most likely will work with homebrew. So when a 1.50 version of homebrew comes out we will see thousands of posts. Does it work on v1.51?!? Like we do now with 1.0
Yeah. Now I just need to track down a version 1.0. If anybody has any leads on one send me an email. Also, and this is an aside, but I went ahead and downloaded the firmware update but didn't install it. It's 14MB in size. Why is Sony only including 32MB cards with these things when you need nearly half that space kept clean for any sort of updates. Ridiculous.

There’s no way to downgrade. Yet.

If we could ‘downgrade’ as you put it; that would mean we could encrypt packages to v1.5+ and if we could do that, we wouldn’t need v1.0

1.5 lets you run homebrew applications. If you just want to play games and use the device as Sony intended, then the newer Firmware is fine…

i dont have a gta:lcs to downgrade to version 1.50 from 3.03

Soriku 3/11/2007 at 10:18 am

Why do you need a GTA LCS to downgrade a 3.03 to a 1.5? Is there another way?

jamal 3/17/2007 at 10:44 am

no there is no other current way to downgrade a 3.03 other then the gta trick. there are other ways to downgrade if you have 2.71 or under, but any thing above will have to be upgraded to version 3.03 and be downgraded to version 1.5.
