An Experiment in Podcasting

The following is an experiment in podcasting. For the most part, it went horribly horribly wrong; thus, why it is appearing here and nowhere else. Word: The Unofficial TUAW Podcast 1 Sample the Web podcast.

I recorded this on a whim, avoiding getting to work grading papers, and via my Powerbook’s internal mic (thus the crappy sound of it) using Quicktime Pro 7.

PS–The Smashing Pumpkins ROCK! Also, I was wrong in the podcast: the concert was in Chicago, not New Orleans.

You should do more of these. Definitely.

Absolutely. Granted this one was pretty rough, but it was a trial run after all. If you developed a schedule/program for talking points and stuck to them, I think you could do some interesting stuff with this format. The biggest problem with this first one is that you bounced around a lot, which made it really hard to follow your train(s) of thought. But, again, I’d imagine most of that was just feeling out what it’s like to put one of these together for the first time. If you approached more like a talk radio show and scripted some things, I’m sure you could do a good job with it.

Personally, I’d like to hear you do a podcast that sketches your dissertation proposal. Not too many academic podcasts, that’s for sure. Could be interesting stuff.
