Working out a writing prompt…

I’m struggling with coming up with a writing prompt for my students. Tomorrow in class, we will be discussing the issues raised in this essay from the New Yorker, which they have already read and posted about on the class blog. I think the discussion will be a very productive one, based on the responses they’ve already posted online. The idea is to give them a writing prompt to guide them towards more writing over the weekend. They should have a full-fledged response paper to turn in to me as a rough draft on Monday.

I’m a little stumped, as I am not entirely sure if I should give them a writing prompt beyond what I already provided for the online posting. To a certain degree, I think a path for their writing will evolve out of tomorrow’s discussion.
